Texas medical malpractice caps will be ineffective

One of the nation's largest medical malpractice insurance companies told regulators that recently enacted Texas medical malpractice caps would save little money. Medical Protective Co., an arm of General Electric Co., said in a filing with the Texas Department of Insurance that the caps would lower payouts by just one percent. The filing was made public by the Foundation for Taxpayer and Consumer Rights, a California consumer group.
