$4.45M Awarded for Wrong Diagnosis
2008-05-19
According to report, $4.45 million was recently awarded to a family living in Indiana for the wrong diagnosis of a patient at a local hospital.
The suit was filed against a doctor at St. Catherine’s Hospital and the family claims he is responsible for medical malpractice.
Man Wrongfully Dies
The family filed a suit against Dr. Rajeev Sareen after the death of Roger Vuckovich, who was 45-years-old at the time.
Vuvkovich reportedly died from an abdominal aortic aneurysm shortly after being discharged from the hospital.
Suit Against Doctor
The attorneys representing the family claimed that Vuckovich’s death was preventable.
If Sareen had ordered a CT scan to better diagnose Vuckovich’s condition before sending him home, the family believes he would still be with them.
Instead, Vuckovich was wrongly diagnosed as having a kidney stone.
